Red Sox vs. A’s lineup: Goodbye, April. You were mostly bad

The Red Sox (12-17), who showed signs of life last night behind rolling rookie Michael Chavis, will again look to sustain a modicum of momentum when they face the A’s (14-17) tonight at Fenway Park (7:10 p.m., NESN) behind Rick Porcello.

Chavis has provided a much-needed spark for Boston, but he’s not the only one who did well last night; the reigning MVP, Mr. Mookie Betts, extended his hitting streak to five games with a 3-4 performance. Today he’ll face Oakland righty Aaron Brooks, who held Boston scoreless over six innings on April Fools Day but has been downright Soxian since then, pitching to a 5.
