Red Sox trim roster by 7 before tilt with Yanks

The Red Sox made a series of moves ahead of Tuesday's Grapefruit League clash with the Yankees, optioning five players and reassigning two others to Minor League camp.

The club optioned outfielder Bryce Brentz, infielder Sean Coyle, left-hander Edwin Escobar and righty Pat Light to Triple-A Pawtucket, as well as lefty Williams Jerez to Double-A Portland. Boston also sent third baseman Chris Dominguez and catcher Ali Solis to Minor League camp.

Light is ranked No. 15 among the organizaton's prospects by MLBPipeline.com, followed by Jerez (20) and Brentz (30).
