BOSTON -- Mother Nature helped cool off the Boston Red Sox, but the Houston Astros deserved the credit for snapping the Red Sox’s dominant five-game winning streak with a 7-6 victory in a steady rain Friday night at Fenway Park.
The wet stuff may have had a more direct effect in helping to end Steven Wright’s magical run, as Boston’s knuckleballer -- who was on the mound during the heavy stuff and seemed to lose his feel for the pitch -- was touched for five runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings.
