First baseman C.J. Cron has agreed to a minor league deal with the Boston Red Sox that includes an invitation to big league camp for spring training.
The Red Sox announced the deal Sunday, and Red Sox manager Alex Cora said the right-handed hitter likely will make his spring training debut March 11 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The 34-year-old Cron played for the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Angels in 2023, batting .248 with 12 home runs and 37 RBIs in 71 games. He was hampered by back issues for much of last year.
