Rusney Castillo and Allen Craig, we still hardly know ye.
The Red Sox thinned out their ranks today, with more cuts expected tomorrow. Forty-two players remain, eight of them non-roster invitees. None of the names came as a surprise, considering how there is essentially only one job left to be won (second left-handed reliever) and roster considerations with a direct impact on the payroll.
Right-handed reliever Noe Ramirez was optioned to Pawtucket (Triple A), with outfielders Castillo, Craig and Brian Bogusevic, infielder Matt Dominguez, catcher Jake DePew and right-handed pitcher Hector Velazquez re-assigned to minor league camp.
