The Red Sox appear to be finalizing their Opening Day roster during the last weekend of spring training.
Boston is reportedly signing right-handed pitcher Chase Anderson to a major league deal, according to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo.
The 36-year-old is expected to be a “multi-inning” reliever for the Red Sox to begin the 2024 regular season, per Cotillo. Anderson is also going to be a spot starter option for the team, Cotillo reported.
Anderson, who finished 2023 with the Colorado Rockies, spent time with the Pittsburgh Pirates during spring training this year. He opted out of his minor league contract with the Pirates on March 23, meaning Red Sox’s chief baseball officer Craig Breslow did not hesitate to pick up the righty.
