Craig Breslow and the Red Sox have reportedly locked up another young piece of Boston’s future.
Just a month after doling out a six-year, $55 million contract extension to righty Brayan Bello in spring training, Boston has reportedly handed out a new long-term deal to outfielder Ceddanne Rafaela — per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.
According to MLB’s Mark Feinsand, the Red Sox and Rafaela agreed to an eight-year extension worth $50 million. According to those terms, Rafaela will be signed with Boston through the 2031 season.
The 23-year-old Rafaela has already made a sizable impact over 38 games in Boston thanks to his impressive fielding ability — especially out in center field.
