Shea Hillenbrand had one good season for the Red Sox, then it all went to shit. He bounced around the league and eventually ended up on the Blue Jays, where he had one good season before it all went to shit.
Specifically, Hillenbrand did not get along with manager John Gibbons. Benched twice after adopting a child, and mad that the team didn’t acknowledge it, Hillenbrand wrote on the team whiteboard that the “ship was sinking,” Gibbons challenged him to a fight and said one of them would be off the team soon. Of course, it wasn’t the manager.
