Sean O'Sullivan's rough outing yesterday against the Astros resulted in the Red Sox designating him for assignment today. The team has recalled infielder Marco Hernandez from Triple-A Pawtucket to fill the roster spot.
Hernandez, 23, has appeared in two games with the Red Sox over two separate stints. He started at second base on April 17 against the Blue Jays and went 1-for-2 with a run scored. He also appeared at second as a defensive replacement on April 30 against the Yankees.
In 24 games with the PawSox this season, Hernandez is hitting .333 with a .
