Yesterday proved to be a painful victory for the Red Sox.
Following injuries to both catcher Ryan Hanigan and left fielder Blake Swihart, the Sox put the pair on the 15-day disabled list today. Hanigan's injury is a neck strain while Swihart's is a left ankle sprain, suffered when he banged into the left field wall trying to field a fly ball.
The Sox still don't know the severity of either injury. Hanigan was undergoing an MRI this morning, and there could be more to Swihart's ailment than just a sprain.
