Red Sox prospect Brian Johnson unharmed after carjacking incident in Florida

Red Sox pitching prospect Brian Johnson was in the passenger seat of a car in a convenience store parking lot at 2 a.m. Friday morning when a man approached with a gun, according to FloridaToday.com.

The gun was fired into the ground in an attempted carjacking incident in Cocoa Beach, Fla., Johnson’s hometown, but nobody was hurt.

Soon after the gun was fired, the 31-year-old male suspect was arrested following a short pursuit on foot. The man was a convicted felon and violated his felony probation, according to the report.

Johnson, 24, made his major league debut with the Red Sox in July but an elbow injury cut his season short.
