FORT MYERS – For their Grapefruit League opener against the Twins, the Red Sox will not wear their regular caps with the familiar B logo. They will instead wear the interlocking S and D of Stoneman Douglas High School, the site of this month’s school shooting that left 17 people dead.
“It puts everything in perspective,” manager Alex Cora said. “It's something that gets your attention. My daughter turns 15 in a few weeks, and I got an email the other day from her school talking about they're having a drill. That's not normal.”
A small group of Stoneman Douglas students were in Red Sox camp earlier this spring, but it was a brief visit.
