Red Sox place Marco Hernandez on 10-day DL; Kyle Kendrick called up to start tonight

As expected, the Red Sox placed Marco Hernandez on the 10-day disabled list today. The utility infielder suffered a left shoulder subluxation while fielding a ground ball at third base last night.

Right-handed pitcher Kyle Kendrick took Hernandez' roster spot and will start tonight's series finale against the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park. Kendrick will fill Steven Wright's spot in the rotation. Wright is battling soreness in his left knee.

Kendrick went 1-3 with a 6.00 ERA in four starts this season for the Pawtucket Red Sox. His last outing was a one-hit, seven-inning, shutout performance on April 28.
