The Red Sox announced that starting pitcher Bryan Bello has been placed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday with what the team labeled as “right lat tightness.”
The move is retroactive to April 21. Right-hander Zack Kelly was called up from Boston’s Triple-A affiliate to take Bello’s place.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora told WEEI that the team is holding Bello out as a precaution after he felt tightness following his most recent start on April 19.
Bello, 24, is 3-1 with a 3.04 ERA in five starts so far in 2024. Bello being sidelined adds to an already lengthy list of Boston players currently injured.
