The Red Sox announced Thursday that pitcher Steven Wright will undergo a cartilage restoration procedure in his left knee Monday and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
The righthander was placed on the disabled list Monday. Righthander Kyle Kendrick was added to the roster and will start Thursday night against Baltimore in Wright’s place.
Wright was 13-5 with a 3.01 earned run average through 22 starts last season. But he injured his right shoulder while pinch running Aug. 7 and is 1-4 with an 8.21 ERA in seven starts since then.
