Red Sox outfielder Rusney Castillo cleared waivers and was outrighted off of Boston's major league roster and assigned to Pawtucket, the Red Sox announced Monday.
Castillo, who was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday, was signed as an amateur free agent to a $72.5 million deal in Aug. 2014.
