Over the last week or so, the Red Sox have gotten a handful of really rough performances from their starting pitcher, which in turn has put a strain on the bullpen. Those short outings combined with a long, 17-day stretch without an off-day on the schedule have resulted in a need for fresh arms. They’ve been doing a lot of shuffling on the bottom of their roster, including bringing Brandon Brennan up from Worcester and then quickly designating him for assignment to make room for Ryan Weber.
We learned on Wednesday that Brennan did indeed clear waivers and will stay in the organization.
