ATLANTA — Dustin Pedroia looks at Red Sox teammate Brock Holt and sees greatness.
“He’s one of the guys who can take over the game in every aspect of it,” Pedroia said ahead of last night’s 5-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves. “He’s a huge part of what we do. He knows how to play the game. Defensively, he can play anywhere and be a presence. He knows what he’s doing. And offensively it’s a good at-bat every time. He can drive the ball, steal bases — he’s a great player.”
Pedroia will go on about Holt’s ability, but unless you specifically ask the second baseman about the utility player’s intangible attributes like hustle and attitude, he doesn’t mention it.
