Steven Wright has been dealing with occasional left knee soreness since spring training. Now that the injury is severe enough to put him on the disabled list, the Red Sox knuckleballer is considering surgery.
“From my understanding, there’s probably options (for different types of) surgery,” manager John Farrell said before last night’s 4-2 win against the Baltimore Orioles. “So you may be looking at different recovery rates or timelines for that. So that’s why there’s a lot being worked through right now.”
To this point, the Red Sox have described Wright’s injury as a left knee sprain, and he went for a second opinion this week.
