Red Sox Notebook: Sleight of hand

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — At first, he was terrified his hand might have been broken, then Hanley Ramirez thought he was feeling better, and now the Red Sox have decided he needs further testing.

The confusion surrounding Ramirez’ bruised left hand, injured when he was hit by a line drive last Wednesday while running the bases, seemed to grow yesterday when manager John Farrell announced Ramirez would head back to Boston for an MRI. A trip to the 15-day disabled list is possible.

“He’s still feeling some discomfort in the hand where he got hit,” Farrell said.
