Red Sox notebook: Pomeranz blames triceps tightness on altered mechanics

FORT MYERS — Drew Pomeranz won’t be confused for the most healthy pitcher in Red Sox camp, but the left-hander was optimistic yesterday that his triceps tightness was a one-and-done injury.

Pomeranz said his arm felt much better the day after leaving a Grapefruit League start early. He hopes to make his next scheduled start on Friday, though he’ll have to throw a successful bullpen session today before the Sox give him the go-ahead.

“I’m good,” Pomeranz said. “Some mechanical thing (happened Sunday). My arm was dragging behind me a little bit and putting pressure on a different part of my triceps more than normal.
