Pablo Sandoval was back in Pawtucket’s starting lineup for the second game in a row last night. If all goes well, that could be his final step before returning from the Red Sox disabled list next week in Chicago.
“I wouldn’t rule it out,” manager John Farrell said.
Sandoval has been out since April 23 when he sprained his right knee during a game in Baltimore. His timeline for return was vague from the very beginning, and it wound up taking more than a month.
Last night was his sixth minor league rehab game. The team wanted Sandoval to play consecutive nine-inning games at third base before considering the possibility of activation.
