The moment might be a little bigger than the Red Sox would have hoped, but Henry Owens will make his major league debut tomorrow night in Yankee Stadium against the division-leading New York Yankees.
Owens will pitch on regular rest, and his call-up will allow everyone else scheduled in the rotation to make their regular turn.
“It’s probably going to be the biggest stage that he’s going to make his debut on,” manager John Farrell said. “Ideally having another left-hander against that lineup in that ballpark.”
Farrell said the reports he has received on Owens indicate the pitcher has had better command lately.
