KISSIMMEE, Fla. — David Price and the Red Sox can start to relax.
The good news is that manager John Farrell said Price is expected to avoid surgery after getting a second opinion on his ailing pitching arm from Dr. James Andrews and Dr. Neal ElAttrache.
But it’s not like his elbow is in perfect health. This will take time to heal and monitor.
The official diagnosis is an elbow strain. Pressed further, however, the Red Sox would not say if any further damage was revealed.
Price was in Indianapolis to meet with the doctors yesterday.
