The potential American League MVP underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Thursday.
Red Sox right fielder Mookie Betts is expected to be ready for spring training after cartilage in the knee was repaired by team orthopedist Dr. Peter Asnis at Massachusetts General Hospital. A piece of cartilage or bone in the joint was also removed in a procedure Sox manager John Farrell characterized as minor.
“Had chance to spend some time with (Betts) today,” Farrell said yesterday. “He was at the ball park here today, so he’s moving around well.
