SAN DIEGO — Neither Drew Pomeranz nor catcher Bryan Holaday thought Pomeranz had his best stuff in yesterday’s 2-1 loss to the Padres.
“I was struggling with my rhythm and timing out there on the mound so I was kind of battling to locate with all my pitches, but I got some big outs when I needed to,” said Pomeranz, who was traded from the Padres to the Red Sox midseason and lasted 52⁄3 innings yesterday.
Pomeranz (10-11) was saved by a leaping Dustin Pedroia catch in the third inning on a liner by Wil Myers that would have brought in a run from second in a scoreless game.
