Red Sox Notebook: Future remains bright for Eduardo Rodriguez

MIAMI — Is Eduardo Rodriguez another victim of the Red Sox rookie hype machine?

Unlikely.

Even after Wednesday’s game, when he was lit up for eight runs on nine hits over five-plus innings against the Marlins — yes, the Marlins, who entered the game with the lowest-scoring offense in the majors while their only scary slugger, Giancarlo Stanton, was injured and on the bench — the Red Sox seem far from fazed that Rodriguez’ ERA continues to climb. It’s at 4.84 through 14 starts, quite the leap from the 0.44 ERA he had after his first three.
