Red Sox Notebook: Farrell plans on utilizing Holt’s ample versatility

ANAHEIM, Calif. — With Mike Napoli scheduled to start at first base for the Red Sox in three of the four games against the Angels, Brock Holt has taken a seat on the bench.

Holt made the start at first base against right-hander Garrett Richards on Saturday, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout, but was out of the lineup Friday against lefty C.J. Wilson and was scheduled to sit again last night before rain interfered and set up a doubleheader for today.

The Red Sox’ lone All-Star, Holt has never had a problem maintaining a rhythm despite inconsistent playing time.
