I have to admit, I didn’t really see this one coming. The Red Sox completed a trade today to bolster their infield depth, picking up Zack Short from the Mets for cash. Short is out of options, so he’ll have to be on the 26-man roster. Essentially, then, it looks like he’s a like-for-like replacement for Pablo Reyes. But he doesn’t hit at all and isn’t known to be a spectacular defender, so this move doesn’t appear to meaningfully change anything. (Chris Cotillo, MassLive)
