Kristian Campbell has no use for your Opening Day deadlines! After last night’s loss to the Texas Rangers, in which Campbell hit his first big league home run, word broke that the Red Sox are “deep” into contract extension talks with the rookie. We’ve already seen Craig Breslow jump at the opportunity to sign prospects; he did it just last year when he gave Ceddanne Rafaela an eight-year deal worth $50 million. Given his pedigree as one of baseball’s elite prospects, Campbell will get more than that. Look for something closer to the eight-year, $82 million deal that Jackson Chourio signed with the Brewers.
