We have a personnel move! But . . . for an executive, not a starting pitcher. Craig Breslow has hired Justin Willard as the team’s director of pitching, which is essentially the role that Breslow started with with the Cubs. Willard has never played pro ball, but pitched in Division II and started working his way up the baseball operations ladder pretty much immediately upon graduation. His most recent role was with the Minnesota Twins, where he served as the minor league pitching coordinator. (Chris Cotillo, MassLive)
It isn’t entirely surprising that this is Breslow’s first major front office hire.
