The Red Sox need a new starting pitcher for Thursday.
Steven Wright is going on the disabled list with a left knee sprain. It’s an issue that’s affected the knuckleballer for weeks, but it was only this weekend that it became a significant problem.
Brandon Workman is being recalled from Triple-A to fill the roster spot.
"It was (Sunday), he felt it more than anything,” manager John Farrell said. “He didn't feel it during his outing against the Cubs. This is somewhat of an ailment in the knee he's been feeling on and off since spring training, but to the extent of this, this really crept up (Sunday).
