Red Sox fans shouldn’t get too attached to this roster

If you’re a Red Sox fan of a certain age — somewhere in the 30-somethings, at a minimum — of course you do. A name like that is hard to forget, not that you want to.

Arquimedez Pozo. That’s a Hall of Fame name right there.

Now it gets tougher. How about Rudy Pemberton? Do you remember him? Or Brent Knackert? What about Nate Minchey, Greg Pirkl, and Walt McKeel? Do Jim (Don’t Call Me Jayson) Tatum and Esteban (Nope, Not Adrian) Beltre ring a bell?

Like Pozo, they were all members of the 1996 Red Sox, a team that used 55 different players, the franchise record until Bobby Valentine’s dismal 69-win 2012 team shuffled 56 bodies — where have you gone, Pedro Ciriaco?
