Star third baseman Rafael Devers was removed from Saturday’s 6-1 loss against the Chicago White Sox because of knee soreness. He stayed in the game, both fielding and batting, until the eighth inning when catcher Reese McGuire pinch-hit for him.
Manager Alex Cora didn’t sound overly concerned about Devers’ knee when asked about his status postgame, but he said he expects the 27-year-old to miss Sunday’s series finale.
“His knee is bothering him, so we took him out.
