BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox today announced that they have named Larry Lucchino as president/CEO emeritus, effective October 16, when chief operating officer Sam Kennedy will take over as club president. In his new role with the team, Lucchino will be an active participant in the strategic direction of the franchise and will participate in various issues facing Major League Baseball. Lucchino will remain a member of the Red Sox' ownership group. The club will pay tribute to him in a brief pregame ceremony today at Fenway Park.
