Chris Young pinch hit for Christian Vazquez in the ninth inning Friday night and hit a two-run, game-tying single, erasing an otherwise quiet and disappointing night from the Red Sox offense.
But Joe Mauer got the best of Matt Barnes in the bottom of the ninth, spitting at a first-pitch fastball and ignoring a curveball to fall behind in the count, then shattering an outside fastball over the fence in left-center as the Minnesota Twins walked off on the Red Sox, 4-3, at Target Field.
