After an inconclusive COVID-19 test result came back on Sunday, Red Sox third-base coach Carlos Febles was sent home and did not travel with the team to Florida.
Following their losses to the Yankees, the Red Sox traveled to Florida on their off day on Monday to take on the Rays, but Febles did not. Manager Ron Roenicke confirmed his departure, stating: “We’re pretty sure this thing is going to come out negative, but we didn’t want to take a chance. We didn’t fly him down here with us to Tampa. He’s back in Boston and he’s got to wait for a test.
