Red Sox catcher Sandy Leon on White House visit: ‘I’ve been thinking about it’

Red Sox catcher Sandy Leon said Thursday he has not made a final decision but is likely to visit the White House in May.

“I’m not sure, but I think I will go,’’ Leon told the Globe. “I’ve been thinking about it. It would be an honor.’’

Leon said he appreciates the Trump administration’s policy toward his native Venezuela, particularly its recognition of Juan Guaido as the legitimate president instead of controversial Nicolas Maduro.

“It was a good thing for Venezuela,’’ Leon said. “It means a lot to me.’’
