TORONTO -- Montreal mayor Denis Coderre is hoping the draw of the Red Sox will help his city “get the Expos back,” he said Friday afternoon.
Coderre announced the Red Sox and Blue Jays would be playing two exhibition games in Montreal on April 1-2, 2016. Tickets go on sale Sept. 26.
It’s the third consecutive year that Olympic Stadium, the former home of the Expos, will be hosting the Blue Jays for two exhibition games. They’ve also played the Mets and the Reds in games that have drawn more than 45,000 fans.
Blue Jays president Paul Beeston said the Jays would be bringing their best players to the games and “it’s very flattering that the Red Sox wanted to take part of it.
