Red Sox at Rays: Tanner’s last tune-up

Yesterday was Garrett Crochet’s final tune-up before the real games count, and he once again looked outstanding, striking out nine hitters, walking just two and shutting out the Pittsburgh Pirates for 5.1 innings. I’ll take that if he can do it again in Texas next week (though let’s try to finish the sixth).

Today it’s Tanner Houck who will make his final start of the spring as the Red Sox take on the Rays. Houck has had a rocky go of it so far, allowing seven earned runs in ten innings. This is where, one paragraph after getting exciting about Crochet’s stat line, I remind everyone that spring stats are useless and should be ignored.
