FORT MYERS — It’s not exactly Game 1 of the World Series. It’s not even Game 1 of the regular season. But the Red Sox will play a baseball game today.
The exhibition opener at JetBlue Park is a doubleheader against Northeastern and Boston College. The Grapefruit League schedule will start tomorrow against the Twins, but the Sox will get their feet wet against college guys.
The Sox have had only three days of full-squad workouts.
“We feel good going into it, but it’s not the perfect scenario,” manager Alex Cora said. “Three days of (practicing) fundamentals is not enough for a big league team.
