Red Sox acquire Yacksel Ríos from Mariners

Earlier on Monday, the Red Sox made a roster move to designate Ryan Weber for assignment and add Michael Chavis to the active roster. As a result, the Red Sox were left with an open 40-man spot, but it wasn’t going to be left open very long at all. The team made a deal with the Mariners to fill the spot, exchanging cash considerations for right-handed pitcher Yacksel Ríos.

Ríos was drafted by the Phillies back in 2011 as a 12th round pick, making it up to the majors for the first time in 2017 as a reliever.
