One of the many delightful things about Cincinnati Reds phenom Elly De La Cruz is that he’s been known to sign his autograph with the words “the world’s fastest man.” There will be a bunch of dudes in Paris next month taking exception to his claim, but who cares. He’s the fastest man in baseball, and baseball is the most important thing in the world, so Elly isn’t that far off.
But it wasn’t the fastest man in baseball who won on Saturday. It was the fastest team in the American League East. With the Red Sox down by one, Ceddanne Rafaela led-off the eighth inning by forcing a bad throw on a grounder to third.
