This game really came down to two things. Richard Fitts going oooooone inning too long, and the Red Sox offense going dead silent for the most part. If Alex Cora goes to the bullpen one inning earlier—a 2-1 lead in the 6th—then maybe this game is saved. Alas, it was Fitts’ final frame where Wyatt Langford and Adolis Garcia each went yard that killed this game off. The bats certainly aren’t any help right now either.
Oh well. Onto a tough division series in Baltimore that really needs to be won.
Three Studs
Wilyer Abreu (1-for-1, 3 BBs, 1 run scored, 1 RBI)
Easily the shining star of this first series.
