Earlier this afternoon, the Red Sox lost a close game, 3-2. This afternoon, they sent out Martin Pérez to face former Red Sox top prospect Michael Kopech.
Unfortunately for the Red Sox, Martin Pérez is still Martin Pérez. The first two batters to face Pérez in the first inning reached, to bring up the other former Red Sox top prospect playing in today’s game: Yoán Moncada. He hit a single off of the glove of Xander Bogaerts, to load the bases with no outs. The ugly uniforms from this morning were gone (to hopefully never be seen again), but the Red Sox played ugly enough in the first inning to make up for the loss.
