This trifecta holiday of Patriots Day, Marathon Monday, and Jackie Robinson Day began with magic in the air. Ceddanne Rafaela started at short (which is by far my preferred defensive alignment), Rafael Devers was back in the lineup after missing four games, Kutter Crawford was looking for first win, and our defense was actually solid over the first few innings.
The game started out encouragingly with two strikeouts by Crawford, against a Cleveland team that doesn’t frequently strike out. Then Jose Ramirez, the third batter of the game, hit a long fly to right field, where Wilyer Abreu made a leaping catch, crashed into the wall, tumbled into a backward somersault—and then stuck the landing.
