Rangers assign 4 players to Triple-A, lose Bonilla on waiver

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers have assigned four players outright to Triple-A Round Rock as they start to clear space on their 40-man roster for the offseason reinstatement of Yu Darvish and others from the 60-day disabled list.

Infielder Kyle Blanks, catcher Carlos Corporan and outfielders Antoan Richardson and Ryan Strausborger were assigned Wednesday to Round Rock. The Rangers also lost right-hander Lisalverto Bonilla on a waiver claim to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Texas has 38 players on its 40-man roster after all those moves.

Blanks, Corporan and Richardson could refuse the assignment and become free agents.
