"I don't think [the soreness is] a complete surprise when you begin to ramp up the intensity and the volume, you've got to monitor and adjust based, in this case, on what David is feeling and his feedback," Farrell said. "So we're back on track."
Based on Friday's work, Price is slated for a 45-50 pitch bullpen session on Monday in Boston. There is no clear plan in place from there involving facing live batters, but one will be developed if the progress continues for last season's 17-game winner.
"Once we get through [Monday's] work session and kind of begin to map out a little more of a structure on a calendar, I think we're at that point [of facing batters]," Farrell said.
