The 2021 season for the Boston Red Sox was one that was full of fun quirks and pleasant surprises, going from a team that was hoping for something around a .500 record to one just a couple games from the World Series. It’s all subjective, of course, but I feel there is a good case to be made that the most entertaining quirk and surprise of the season was towards the end when José Iglesias was brought in and became a key cog in the lineup for the final month of the season. Due to when he was signed he could not participate in postseason play, but his impact on getting the team there was undeniable.
