BOSTON -- Red Sox lefty Drew Pomeranz left Sunday's start against the Rays with an unspecified injury, following his warmup pitches in the top of the fourth inning.
Pomeranz flexed his arm in a circular motion, and was removed from the game after a visit from assistant trainer Paul Buchheit and manager John Farrell.
Pomeranz pitched through left elbow discomfort last season, and opened this season on the disabled list with a left forearm flexor strain.
In Sunday's start, played in a drizzling rain, Pomeranz wasn't sharp, giving up three hits, two runs and three walks over three innings.
